Introducing Al : Your New Fav East Coast College Dancer

Hi there, and welcome to my blog! A brief introduction of me, my name is Alison Carroll and I am a rising senior at High Point University located on the east coast. I am from New Hampshire, still on the east coast but up north more. I am studying a dual degree in Strategic Communications & Psychology, with minors in Dance and Fashion Merchandising. So you can say I'm a little indecisive lol. With these degrees I hope to move back up north and reside in Boston, and get an HR job while pursuing a career as a Patriots Cheerleader! This blog will act as a resource for my course that gives credit to my Communications major, and since the course is for Social Media and Analytics it will be helpful to interact with different platforms and gain experience first hand how all of this works.

My engagement at High Point University is pretty high, since I am involved in so many different departments at the university. I have even choreographed for the dance department and their annual dance concerts, and performed in quite a few as well! More dance involvement would come from being a member of the Dance Team we have on campus, in which we perform at basketball games, do charity work, and help get morale up around campus! Once we return in the fall, we will be performing in the new arena, so watch out for us there ;)

You may also know me from Slane gym, which is where I work on campus. I act as Facility Manager, looking after the property once my bosses leave for the day, and you may have seen me checking you into the gym as well! I've worked essentially every role that REC entails, such as lifeguarding, guest services, facility manager, and GroupX instructor. I teach a wide variety of classes, from Hip Hop Cardio to Butts & Guts, and even Barre which has been super popular since I started teaching it! I love working for REC since it allows me to meet so many different people and connect with them through fitness, and helping those who take my class get a good sweat on and meet their goals is what I thrive on. I've been doing REC since I was a sophomore, and have only deepened my involvement with the department. All the employees are wonderful, and I cannot say enough good things about my bosses!

When I'm not working or in class, you can find me in the gym or at the pool catching some rays. At home, I love going to the beach and surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, jet skis, pretty much anything water related I will be involved with! I tend to crank up the work load when I'm home as well, in which I work retail part-time at local LIT Boutique, and I also manufacture full-time putting together different products for the companies I'm assigned to. I like to stay busy, and between my two online classes and my two jobs this tends to do the trick!

I look forward to learning more about social media and it's involvement with marketing, buying choices, and the influence it has on us in out daily lives, as well as getting to examine and monitor these elements with my own accounts.
